Heavy haulage
  Heavy haulage

Scania’s approach to heavy-haulage builds on a combination of flexibility and modular components.

Starting from Scania’s range of truck chassis, you can create a basic heavy-duty chassis that best suits your need – with gross train weights up to 150 tonnes (250 tonnes for slow-moving transport). From then on, you are able to specify the cab, transmission and other options.
Beyond that, on 6x4 and 8x4/4 vehicles with the the most powerful V8 engines, you can specify a ZF torque converter gearbox that makes precision manoeuvring without transmission snatch very easy. It also makes for a smooth start even on difficult surfaces. The primary retarder works very well at low speed and enhances safety. At reduced speed (max 45 km/h) gross train weights might be up to 250 tonnes.

Type approval and inspection.
Type approval is carried out by the Scania distributor in your country in accordance with local legal requirements for heavy-haulage transportation. All components and systems are covered by EC certification as standard chassis.
