Form and function in the driver station – The artful sweep of the dashboard presents the driver with ergonomically positioned controls. Unique features like pendant pedals use the correct leg muscles to make driving safer and more comfortable. A new pneumatically controlled adjustable steering wheel locks easily into position. For optimum visibility you get three integrated mirrors per side and an optional rear-view camera.
Awesome torque from low revs meets outstanding fuel economy – With the well proven 12-litre 480 hp turbocompound engine Scania Irizar coaches can deliver up to 2,250 Nm at 1,100 –1,450 r/min for fantastic starting power and relaxed performance.
Fully integrated systems for superb handling – Optional Scania Opticruise automatically selects the right gear to ensure that your coach runs smoothly and economically at all times. The Scania Retarder is designed to deliver a massive 3,500 Nm of braking torque for constant speeds on downhill gradients. Control them both with your fingertip using the combined Opticruise and retarder lever. Add electronically controlled antilock disc brakes to our robust chassis with independent front suspension and you get a superb passenger-car feel on narrow roads, and predictable handling on the open highway.
Better brake lining wear control and braking assistance – Scania’s electronic braking system (EBS) ensures that brake linings wear evenly. This means fewer visits to the workshop because all brake linings can be changed at once. EBS also includes a function that optimises brake pressure in panic situations. The system identifies an emergency by evaluating the speed and distance of the pedal’s movement.
Smooth and precise shifts – Comfort Shift (CS) is a computerised system for easier and more comfortable gearchanges. The CS lever is attached to the seat, so it’s always perfectly placed in relation to the driver. The stubby lever enables short, smooth and precise movements that are transferred to the gearbox electro-pneumatically. The result is a fast and reliable system offering the ease and pleasure found only in top-quality cars.
Mastering interior climate – Double-glazing and highly effective sound insulation ensures relaxed and restful travel. Fully automatic controls steer two independent climate zones – one for passengers and another for the driver – with air conditioning, roof-mounted heating and floor-level convector radiators for quick and generous circulation of cool air or heat.
